Read MoreShipping Policy
This Shipping and Delivery Policy applies to orders placed with The Sky Packaging through our website, quotation forms, email, telephone, live chat, invoices, or authorized representatives.
We provide custom packaging solutions to businesses throughout the United States and Canada. This policy explains production schedules, shipping estimates, delivery responsibilities, customs charges, shipment inspections, and procedures for delayed, damaged, missing, or undeliverable orders.
Production and Shipping Are Separate Stages
Production turnaround and shipping transit time are calculated separately.
Production turnaround is the estimated time required to manufacture an order after all production requirements have been completed.
Shipping transit time begins after the completed order leaves the production facility and is accepted by the carrier.
A quoted production period does not include the time required for transportation, customs clearance, carrier processing, or final delivery.
Standard Production Turnaround
Our standard production turnaround is approximately 12 to 14 business days unless a different schedule is confirmed in writing.
Production turnaround generally begins after all of the following have been completed:
- Final artwork approval
- Dieline approval
- Order specification approval
- Receipt of the required payment
- Confirmation of material availability
- Resolution of all technical concerns
- Approval of any required physical samples
- Receipt of complete customer information
Production does not begin merely because a quotation has been requested, an invoice has been issued, or artwork has been submitted.
Business Days
Business days generally exclude:
- Saturdays
- Sundays
- Federal holidays
- Provincial holidays
- Public holidays
- Carrier closure dates
- Production facility closure dates
Orders approved late in the day, outside normal business hours, or during a holiday may begin processing on the next available business day.
Artwork Revisions and Approval Delays
Production turnaround may be extended when:
- Artwork is incomplete
- Images have insufficient resolution
- Fonts or linked files are missing
- Dimensions are unclear
- The dieline requires revision
- Regulatory information is incomplete
- The customer requests design changes
- Proof approval is delayed
- Payment has not been completed
- Customer confirmation is required
- Material or finishing selections change
Time spent waiting for customer instructions, revisions, files, approvals, samples, or payment is not included in the production turnaround.
Estimated Shipping Time
Shipping time depends on:
- Delivery destination
- Selected shipping service
- Carrier availability
- Shipment size and weight
- Customs processing
- Weather conditions
- Delivery access
- Regional transportation conditions
- Peak shipping periods
- Border processing requirements
Any shipping time provided by The Sky Packaging is an estimate unless a guaranteed service has been expressly confirmed in writing.
Shipping Destinations
The Sky Packaging serves customers throughout the United States and Canada, subject to carrier availability, product restrictions, customs requirements, and service limitations.
Certain remote, rural, island, military, northern, or restricted locations may require additional shipping time or charges.
Customers should confirm delivery availability before placing an order if the destination has limited carrier access.
Shipping Methods
Orders may be shipped through:
- Parcel carriers
- Courier services
- Freight carriers
- Less than truckload freight
- Full truckload freight
- Air transportation
- Ground transportation
- Third-party logistics providers
- Other commercial delivery services
The appropriate method depends on the shipment’s quantity, dimensions, weight, destination, requested delivery speed, and handling requirements.
Shipping Charges
Shipping charges are calculated according to the order specifications, destination, carrier, service level, shipment weight, dimensions, and freight requirements.
Free or discounted shipping applies only when expressly stated in the applicable quotation, invoice, written promotion, or order confirmation.
Unless otherwise stated, additional charges may apply for:
- Expedited delivery
- Remote-area delivery
- Residential delivery
- Limited-access locations
- Liftgate service
- Inside delivery
- Appointment delivery
- Address correction
- Re-delivery
- Storage
- Customs brokerage
- Import processing
- Oversized shipments
- Special handling
Free Shipping Offers
If free shipping is offered, it applies only under the conditions stated in the relevant quotation, invoice, or promotion.
Free shipping may be limited to:
- Eligible destinations
- Standard ground service
- Commercial addresses
- Specific order values
- Specific product categories
- Specific shipment sizes
- A promotional period
Free shipping does not automatically include customs duties, import taxes, brokerage fees, remote-area surcharges, storage charges, re-delivery charges, address correction fees, or special handling unless expressly stated.
Rush Production
Rush production may be available for certain orders, subject to material availability, production capacity, artwork readiness, quantity, printing method, and finishing requirements.
Rush production affects the manufacturing schedule only. It does not automatically include expedited shipping.
Rush production must be approved and confirmed in writing before payment. Additional charges may apply.
Expedited Shipping
Customers may request expedited shipping when supported by the selected carrier.
Expedited delivery time begins after production is completed and the shipment is accepted by the carrier.
Expedited service does not reduce artwork preparation, proofing, production, customs clearance, or customer approval time.
Carrier delays may still occur after an expedited shipment has been accepted.
Shipping Address Requirements
Customers must provide a complete and accurate shipping address, including:
- Recipient’s full name
- Company name
- Street address
- Suite or unit number
- City
- State or province
- ZIP or postal code
- Country
- Telephone number
- Email address
- Delivery instructions
- Access restrictions
- Receiving hours
The Sky Packaging is not responsible for delays, loss, return, or additional charges resulting from incorrect, incomplete, outdated, or undeliverable information supplied by the customer.
Address Changes
Shipping address changes must be requested in writing before shipment.
An address change is not confirmed until accepted by The Sky Packaging in writing.
Once an order has been transferred to a carrier, an address change may not be possible. Carrier correction, interception, re-routing, storage, return, and re-delivery charges may apply.
To protect customers against unauthorized redirection, we may request identity, payment, or account verification before accepting an address change.
Commercial and Residential Addresses
Freight carriers may apply different rates and delivery procedures to residential, commercial, construction, school, government, farm, storage, or limited-access locations.
Customers must accurately identify the destination type when requesting a quotation.
Additional fees caused by an incorrectly identified destination may be charged to the customer.
Freight Delivery Requirements
Large or palletized orders may require freight delivery.
Before delivery, customers should confirm whether the location has:
- A loading dock
- A forklift
- Pallet-handling equipment
- Adequate unloading space
- Commercial vehicle access
- An authorized receiving person
- Suitable receiving hours
If unloading equipment is unavailable, liftgate or inside-delivery service may be required at an additional cost.
Standard freight delivery usually means delivery to the accessible exterior receiving area. It does not automatically include unpacking, product placement, stair carrying, debris removal, or inside delivery.
Delivery Appointments
Some carriers may contact the customer to arrange a delivery appointment.
Customers are responsible for responding to carrier communications and being available during the agreed delivery window.
Missed appointments may result in re-delivery, storage, detention, or other carrier charges.
Carrier delivery windows are estimates and may not guarantee a specific arrival time.
PO Boxes and Restricted Addresses
Large, palletized, or commercial shipments generally cannot be delivered to PO boxes.
Some carriers may also restrict delivery to:
- Military addresses
- Parcel lockers
- Virtual offices
- Freight-forwarding locations
- Remote northern areas
- Locations without appropriate receiving access
Customers should provide a physical delivery address capable of accepting the shipment.
Tracking Information
Tracking information will be provided when available after the carrier has processed the shipment.
Tracking systems may require time to update after a shipping label is created. The creation of a label does not necessarily mean the carrier has physically collected or scanned the shipment.
Customers are responsible for monitoring tracking information and preparing to receive the delivery.
Partial Shipments
An order may be delivered in more than one carton, pallet, or shipment.
Different portions of an order may arrive:
- On different dates
- Through different carriers
- Under different tracking numbers
- From different production or fulfillment locations
A shipment is not considered incomplete until all listed tracking numbers and delivery records have been reviewed.
When operationally necessary, The Sky Packaging may ship completed portions of an order separately unless a single consolidated delivery has been expressly agreed upon.
International and Cross-Border Shipping
Orders shipped between countries may be subject to:
- Customs declarations
- Import duties
- Sales taxes
- Goods and Services Tax
- Harmonized Sales Tax
- Provincial sales taxes
- Brokerage fees
- Customs inspections
- Product restrictions
- Documentation requirements
- Border delays
Unless expressly included in the written quotation, the customer is responsible for all duties, taxes, brokerage fees, permit charges, customs expenses, and government assessments.
Canadian Deliveries
Orders shipped to customers in Canada may be reviewed by Canadian customs and other government authorities.
Canadian customers may be responsible for applicable:
- Goods and Services Tax
- Harmonized Sales Tax
- Provincial sales tax
- Customs duties
- Brokerage fees
- Import processing charges
- Storage or examination fees
The exact amount depends on the destination, product classification, shipment value, shipping terms, and applicable government requirements.
The Sky Packaging does not control customs assessment, clearance time, or government processing.
Customs Documentation
Customers must provide accurate information required for customs and cross-border delivery.
If additional information is requested by a carrier or customs authority, the customer must respond promptly.
Delays caused by incomplete documentation, customer non-response, inspection, classification, valuation, or government action do not ordinarily qualify an order for cancellation or refund.
Customs Refusal or Nonpayment
If a customer refuses to pay customs duties, taxes, brokerage charges, or other lawful import costs, the shipment may be held, returned, abandoned, or destroyed.
The customer may be responsible for:
- Original shipping charges
- Return transportation
- Customs expenses
- Storage
- Brokerage charges
- Disposal fees
- Re-shipping costs
- Other carrier or government charges
Custom products that are returned or abandoned because of unpaid import charges are not automatically eligible for a refund.
Import Compliance
Customers are responsible for determining whether the packaging, materials, labeling, printing, coatings, or intended product use complies with applicable import and regulatory requirements at the destination.
The Sky Packaging does not act as the customer’s customs broker, importer of record, regulatory attorney, or compliance consultant unless expressly agreed in writing.
Risk of Loss and Shipping Terms
The applicable quotation, invoice, purchase agreement, or shipping document may specify when responsibility for the shipment transfers between the parties.
Where no specific shipping term is stated, responsibility will be determined according to the applicable agreement, carrier terms, and governing law.
Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable rights or remedies available under applicable law.
Delivery Confirmation
A shipment may be considered delivered when the carrier’s records show delivery to:
- The specified address
- A receiving department
- A building representative
- An authorized employee
- A mailroom
- A concierge
- A front desk
- A loading dock
- Another person reasonably appearing authorized to accept delivery
Customers should ensure that the delivery location is secure and that authorized personnel are available.
Signature Requirements
A signature may be required based on shipment value, carrier policy, destination, or customer request.
A signature requirement does not guarantee that a specific named individual will personally receive the package.
If the customer requests that a signature requirement be waived, the customer may assume additional risk to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Inspection at Delivery
Customers should inspect all cartons, pallets, and packages promptly.
Before accepting visibly damaged freight, customers should:
- Count the cartons or pallets
- Check for crushed, wet, torn, punctured, opened, or re-taped packaging
- Photograph visible damage
- Record damage or shortages on the delivery receipt
- Ask the driver to acknowledge the notation
- Retain a copy of the signed delivery record
Writing “subject to inspection” without describing visible damage may not be sufficient for a carrier claim.
Concealed Damage
Some damage may not be visible until the shipment is opened.
Customers should inspect the contents as soon as reasonably possible and preserve:
- Damaged products
- Shipping cartons
- Pallets
- Labels
- Wrapping
- Protective materials
- Delivery records
- Photographs and videos
Do not discard or alter damaged products or packaging while a claim is under review.
Reporting Shipping Damage
Shipping damage must be reported to The Sky Packaging in writing within five business days after delivery.
The report should include:
- Order or invoice number
- Delivery date
- Tracking or freight number
- Description of the damage
- Affected quantity
- Photographs of exterior packaging
- Photographs of shipping labels
- Photographs of damaged products
- Copy of the delivery receipt
- Video evidence where useful
Customers should also notify the carrier when required.
Late or incomplete claims may be denied if the delay prevents a reasonable investigation, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
Missing Cartons or Items
If a shipment appears incomplete, first review all tracking numbers because cartons or pallets may be delivered separately.
If items remain missing, notify The Sky Packaging within five business days after the final recorded delivery.
Include:
- Order number
- Packing list
- Products received
- Quantity received
- Quantity believed missing
- Photographs of received cartons
- Shipping labels
- Delivery receipt
A production shortage and a carrier shortage may require different investigations.
Delayed Shipments
Carrier delays can occur because of:
- Severe weather
- Traffic disruptions
- Mechanical problems
- Customs inspections
- Border congestion
- Labor disruptions
- Peak-season volume
- Regional emergencies
- Incorrect address information
- Failed delivery attempts
- Government restrictions
- Events beyond reasonable control
We may assist with tracking and carrier communication, but we do not control a shipment after it enters the carrier’s network.
A delayed shipment is not automatically considered lost and does not automatically qualify for a refund.
Lost Shipments
If tracking shows no meaningful movement for an extended period, contact The Sky Packaging so we can request a carrier investigation.
The carrier may require time to search for the shipment and review scan records.
A reprint, replacement, credit, or refund will be considered after the carrier confirms the shipment is lost or the investigation otherwise supports the claim, subject to the applicable shipping terms and law.
Stolen Packages After Delivery
If carrier records confirm delivery but the shipment cannot be located, customers should:
- Check all entrances and receiving areas
- Contact employees, neighbors, building management, or reception
- Review available security footage
- Contact the carrier
- Notify local authorities when theft is suspected
The Sky Packaging is not responsible for theft or disappearance occurring after confirmed delivery to the correct address, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
Failed Delivery Attempts
If the carrier cannot complete delivery because the customer is unavailable, the location is closed, access is restricted, or required unloading arrangements are unavailable, the carrier may:
- Attempt re-delivery
- Hold the shipment
- Return the shipment
- Apply storage fees
- Apply appointment or re-delivery fees
The customer is responsible for reasonable additional expenses caused by failed delivery attempts that are not attributable to The Sky Packaging.
Refused Deliveries
Customers should not refuse a shipment solely because the exterior packaging appears damaged unless refusal is reasonably necessary or directed by the carrier or The Sky Packaging.
If delivery is refused without prior authorization or a valid documented reason, the customer may be responsible for:
- Return freight
- Original shipping charges
- Storage
- Re-delivery
- Inspection
- Handling expenses
A refused custom order is not automatically eligible for a refund.
Unclaimed and Undeliverable Shipments
If a shipment is returned because it was unclaimed, undeliverable, incorrectly addressed, refused, or not collected, we will attempt to contact the customer.
The customer may be required to pay applicable return, storage, correction, and re-shipping charges before another delivery attempt is arranged.
Custom packaging returned as undeliverable cannot normally be resold and does not automatically qualify for a refund.
Storage Charges
If completed goods cannot be shipped or delivered because of customer instructions, nonpayment, address problems, failed appointments, customs issues, or lack of receiving arrangements, storage charges may apply.
Extended storage may also affect the condition of paper-based products due to temperature, humidity, handling, or environmental exposure.
Customer-Arranged Shipping
If the customer selects, hires, or provides an account for a carrier, freight forwarder, broker, or logistics provider, that provider acts on the customer’s instructions.
The customer is responsible for:
- Carrier selection
- Service terms
- Insurance
- Pickup scheduling
- Freight charges
- Customs arrangements
- Delivery performance
- Claims against the selected provider
Our responsibility for the shipment may end when the order is released to the customer’s selected carrier, subject to the written agreement and applicable law.
Freight Forwarders
Delivery to a freight forwarder may be considered delivery to the customer’s designated agent.
If the freight forwarder repacks, consolidates, exports, stores, or redirects the shipment, The Sky Packaging is not responsible for damage, loss, or delay occurring after delivery to that forwarder, except where required by applicable law.
Shipping Insurance
Shipping insurance may be available for certain orders or carriers.
Insurance is not automatically included unless stated in the quotation, invoice, or shipping confirmation.
Customers who require declared-value coverage or additional insurance should request it before shipment. Coverage remains subject to the carrier or insurer’s terms, exclusions, documentation requirements, and claim decision.
Packaging for Transportation
Orders are packed according to the product type, quantity, shipment method, and reasonable commercial handling requirements.
Outer shipping cartons, pallets, wrapping, corner protection, and internal protective materials may vary according to the order.
Minor marks on outer shipping cartons do not necessarily indicate that the custom packaging inside is defective.
Sustainability and Shipping Materials
Where practical, we may use appropriately sized cartons, recyclable materials, consolidated shipments, or reduced packaging components.
The availability and recyclability of shipping materials vary by destination, local facilities, coatings, adhesives, labels, and material composition.
Force Majeure and Events Beyond Our Control
The Sky Packaging is not responsible for delay or nonperformance caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including:
- Natural disasters
- Severe weather
- Fire
- Flood
- Earthquake
- War or civil disturbance
- Public health emergencies
- Government actions
- Customs restrictions
- Labor disputes
- Carrier interruptions
- Port congestion
- Material shortages
- Utility failures
- Cyber incidents
- Transportation breakdowns
When reasonably possible, we will communicate material delays and work toward an appropriate solution.
Remedies for Shipping Claims
When a shipping claim is validated, the available remedy may depend on the carrier’s decision, insurance coverage, agreed shipping terms, affected quantity, and applicable law.
A remedy may include:
- Carrier claim assistance
- Replacement of the affected quantity
- Reprinting affected products
- Account credit
- Partial refund
- Full refund for the verified affected portion
A complete refund for an entire order is not normally available when only part of the shipment is affected and a reasonable replacement or partial remedy can resolve the issue.
Relationship to Other Policies
This Shipping and Delivery Policy should be read together with our:
- Terms and Conditions
- Returns, Reprints, Cancellations and Refunds Policy
- Privacy Policy
- Artwork Guidelines
- Quotation
- Invoice
- Proof approval
- Written order specifications
If a signed written agreement expressly conflicts with this policy, the signed agreement will control to the extent of that conflict, subject to applicable law.
No Waiver of Mandatory Rights
Nothing in this policy excludes or limits any right that cannot legally be excluded under applicable federal, state, provincial, territorial, or local law in the United States or Canada.
Policy Updates
The Sky Packaging may update this policy to reflect changes in our services, carriers, business practices, or legal obligations.
The policy applicable to an order will generally be the version in effect when the order is accepted unless applicable law requires otherwise.
